Hello, one question:

I have noticed that some fruits and veggies, like cucumber (http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-cucumber-i11205?size_grams=52.0) have extremely low calories. 25 grams of it have only 4 calories! I think it will greatly help with my hunger issues.

Is there a problem which I don't see?

Yes. It's not about calories for why we don't particularly like Fruit: it's the fructose. Why are you always hungry too? If you are fastIng you should end it with satiating foods like protein and fat not carbs or empty foods like cucumbers.

I am talking about the fasting period :) – ieatcarrots May 28 at 20:28

If you are talking about the fasted state then it's best to eat nothing at all. If that proves a challenge you probably shouldn't be fasting and eat a meal instead. No snacking. – YoungPaleoLover May 29 at 1:25
I know that, but is eating a tiny piece of cucumber so bad? – ieatcarrots May 29 at 8:46

The problem is that 4 calories worth of cucumber won't satisfy you for very long. Cucumber is mostly water, some nutrients, and a little bit of fiber. I don't know about you but my body isn't tricked for very long into feeling full when I eat high-fiber low-calorie foods.

I've never understood the reason why some folks feel the need to physically have a full feeling. I much prefer eating food that provides satiety without bulk. It sounds like you want to "fast" except with a full stomach. scratches head

I am very well used to the fasted state and I never want something to eat. However, there are times that I just break the fast sooner than I want, so I just wanted to trick my stomach a little. 10 calories won't give me a full stomach feeling. – ieatcarrots May 29 at 0:58

If you are just eating cucumbers it won't really have much of an impact on the "fasted" state. I just wouldn't go over 25, maybe 50 calories, and I wouldn't eat fat, as fat will suppress GH during a fast.

It it best not to focus on food during a fast though, and let your body adapt to running without food at certain times during the day.
