Have you ever run into someone on Paleo Hacks who you know in real life? I.e., you recognized their name or picture and after reading some of their profile and/or some of their posts, you realized it was someone you knew in real life, but hadn't known they were paleo. Did this spark a closer relationship in real life? As the community here grows, I'm guessing it's bound to happen more and more frequently.

Thanks everyone for sharing. This is very intriguing to me. I very much enjoy asking, learning, sharing about paleo and my paleo exerience here on Paleo Hacks. I think it is helpful in so many ways (better understanding, positive reinforcement, sense of acceptance/community, intellectually stimulating, etc). I'm guessing it could be even better/different being able to share this with someone in real life, but I don't know anyone who is paleo. I'm very happily married, so obviously not looking for a love connection, but always hoping I might notice someone here who I happen to know on the outside. Thanks again.

I dunno about anyone else, but the few times I've met folks in person after an online introduction, the whole thing is kinda awkward. But I'm awkward in general, so I can own that. But Paleo FX was my first conference and it was a bit eye-opening. I have a pretty good memory for people and I was a little surprised by how folks didn't know me even after some good exchanges online. I think the best way to do something like this would be to start a meet-up group locally that can reinforce those Paleo bonds. – Karen P. Jun 1 at 16:40

The Rules of post-recognition Paleo Hackers meet-n-greet:

1st RULE: You do not talk about diet.

2nd RULE: You DO NOT talk about DIET.

3rd RULE: If someone says "hey my body fat is 7% and I have 11 abs" and then flexes or you think they are about to, taps out the meet-n-greet is over.

4th RULE: No limit to attendees to a meet-n-greet.

5th RULE: One cocktail at a time.

6th RULE: No bad food, no shoes unless feet are gross.

7th RULE: Meet-n-greets will go on as long as they have to.

8th RULE: If this is your first time at a meet-n-greet, you HAVE to give low fives.

Note: I am Ninja and have met some of The Others but that is all this one will share.

Paleo Hacks only exists in the hours between when Paleo Hacks starts and when Paleo Hacks ends. Even if I could tell someone they had a good post, I wouldn't be talking to the same man. Who you were in Paleo Hacks is not who you were in the rest of the world. – lil' Richard frm tx fan Jun 2 at 3:57

Have there been love connections made or even PH babies born?

I wish I could flag, up/down vote and edit people in real life :)

I wonder if Kamal's timing is as good in person!

Goodness, I hope not. I share too much information on this site for people I know to be aware of! Anonymity is my best friend.

Yes. But neither mentioned it. What is posted in PaleoHacks, stays in PlaeoHacks. First rule of PaleoHacks: DON'T TALK ABOUT PALEOHACKS. I'm pretty sure we were both buying beer,

Closest thing that happened is that I knew another member from another forum and facebook, and I recognized her humor - so I called her out on facebook and it turned out to be her. She's also a local so we share paleo food finds along the way (as well as favorite cheat spots - freaking enablers).

I have some totally non-paleo, psuedo-cron, geek friends that freaked out when I +1'ed a Paleohacks post on Google+ - "OMG I LOVE PALEOHACKS!".

Apparently some of the lurkers here just appreciate the science..

I have not, but that's what I get for living outside of major population centers.

The closest I have come is being in the grocery checkout line in Wegmans, Dewitt, NY, USA... and I landed right behind someone who was using Cordain's Paleo book AND cookbook as a shopping list for the first time.

I was able to say some very encouraging things and it felt good to connect and support.

Are any of you near Syracuse? (tap tap) Anyone?

I hope to god nobody recognizes me while I'm discussing the inner most workings of my digestive system.

I met up with someone here on PaleoHacks who also lives in Santa Fe.

Great to connect & hope there will be more folks over time...

I also have a long-time friend/client who joined a few months ago.

I found someone on another fitness board by the same handle, but I have yet to meet anyone on here out in the real world. Or anyone paleo, for that matter...
