Hey guys, I've been on the paleo diet since February 4th. Well I'm visiting a friend in Texas and they have all junk food. No protein nuts, vegetables or anything . I've stayed away from the junk food. Unfortunately theres no way for me to skip her moms home cooked pasta and carb filled dinners. I pack on whatever protein and salad( if she makes it) there is. I'm going.on.day two of being here and my stomach feels sick. Bloated, icky and gross. Any tips? Is this normal behavior for carbs being consumed or should I be worried ? I still have 4 more days here I don't want to feel sick the whole time :(

Explain your situation and go to the grocery store. Buy something you can tolerate like hamburger meat and eggs (if you are not allergic to them). |

There is never a reason why you can't choose to eat the food. No one can force you to eat something you don't want to eat! It's not being difficult, I do it every day and get passed the annoying comments. Tell them you have a gluten intolerance (this isn't a lie) and avoid the food. Can you get to a store? Buy some veggies and just eat less for the remainder of the trip. Next time, bring probiotics. |

Offer to cook some meals.... Without preaching, explain that you'd like to share some of your favorite recipes. You could broach the subject, but you are a guest and they are doing their best to be hospitable, so be kind. Drink a lot of water and get whatever physical movement in that you can. |
