It's time for me to take a break from fruit. It's been a major vice because as Robb Wolf likes to say, "the poison is in the dose." I notice that last night and this morning, having had a fair amount of fruit in the last few days, including a number of carrots (close enough to fruit in my book) my thinking has been a bit "scrambled." Not sure how else to describe it but I notice myself making silly thinking and writing mistakes.

Anyway, I'm curious if others of you have noticed STS (scrambled thinking syndrome) from eating too much fruit or other sources of sugar.

I went fruit-free about two months ago. It helped me to stop binge eating and made me less hungry. – VB Jun 6 2012 at 14:38

Love the STS moniker! – MathGirl72 Jun 6 2012 at 15:09

Correlation does not imply causation. Can you confirm that lowering your fruit intake has "descrambled" your thinking?

Nope but it's the obvious suspect and I need a good reason to lay off the fruit. – Sol Jun 6 2012 at 14:29
Of course he can't confirm that! If he could he wouldn't be asking for more anecdotal evidence from us... – Joy Jun 7 2012 at 2:46

Fair enough. It just rustles my jimmies when fruit is falsely demonized. And I'm not saying it IS being falsely demonized here, just that it so often is. – Matthius Jun 7 2012 at 6:04

Makes me think that either you don't have good blood glucose control, or there is some sort of fungal infection that feeds off of the fruit sugar, and the toxic byproducts of the the fungus digesting the sugars are scrambling your brain.

both good possibilities. thanks. – Sol Jun 20 2012 at 17:55

Are you eating less protein and healthy fat along with the increase in fruit?

I don't eat a lot in general so If I was eating a ton of fruit, I would likely be eating less of another macro and that would be an issue for me.....
