I know it's not Paleo, but can you let me know what I can do to my diet to get extremely lean. This is my meal everyday. The Raw Meal is by Garden of Life which is all natural. I am looking to gain lean muscle and get a six pack. I have been doing crossfit for almost a year. I try to eat as natural as possible. I am open to suggestions...thanks!
1 Cup Steel Cut Oats w/1 tbspn Olive Oil 1 cup Greek Yogurt Nonfat Plain w/blueberries
Snack: 1 scoop Raw Meal
1 5 oz Turkey Burger 93% fat free w/ground spinach and ground onion 2 cups brussell sprouts steamed w/1 tbspn olive oil 1 small macintosh apple
1 5 oz Turkey Burger 93% fat free w/ground spinach and ground onion 1 small macintosh apple

1 scoop Raw Meal w/ 1 cup Almond Milk Unsweetened 1 scoop of 100% Whey Optimum Nutrition
6 oz chicken breast 2 cups broccoli steamed
Salad w/ 1 tbspn olive oil and vinegar
I find it slightly odd to post an "i know it's not paleo, but critique my diet" thing here. Step 1: make it paleo... Step 2: see how you respond.
But in all seriousness, cut out the oats and weird stuff, stick to real food, and if that isn't getting you a six-pack (which it should, given regular exercise) then look into some things like IF protocols a la LeanGains :D
My first thought is: Where is the red meat? If you are trying lean out and build muscle, red meat has all the amino acids and protein that people drop big bucks on for body building supplelments at GNC. Liver will get you the rest.
Before you jump to conclusions about the actual fitness of your body, it is always useful to employ the opinions of real people in real life, because a year of crossfit seems like it should have gotten you to pretty darn close to where you are likely to get. It is all too easy to either compare our bodies to bodybuilders taking who knows what anabolic weirdness, or to develop a dysmorphic image between what is actually in the mirror and what we see in the mirror. Not everyone gets a super defined 6-pack, no matter how hard they try. Any example you have seen in a magazine is deeply enhanced with makeup and photoshop, so any semblance of one is pretty good definition. If you are in good shape and healthy, why not leave it at that?
You need fat to burn fat. You are only burning your carbs that you consume. Stop the Raw Meal it is not necessary, you might as well be eating candy. One scoop of raw meal has more sugar and white starch then an entire lindt dark chocolate bar. That is more than 3 chocolate bars a day, and these have 2 and 1/2 serving each, so you are really eating the equivalent of 7 1/2 servings of dark chocolate a day to gear up for crossfit. Eat higher fat and more protein and you will not need to use those "Helpers".
Add more fat/protein and cut out the sugar. Raw meal has 26 grams in 2 scoops, and you're eating 3 scoops a day. Oats convert to sugar and the fat free turkey probably has sugar in it too.
I do crossfit 4 times per week. I just use Raw Meal as a supplement for artificial protein powder. I am nervous to give up oatmeal since I have read so much good stuff about it. I also find Greek yogurt as so high in protein and low in sugar. I have gotten unbelieveable results, but am looking to get a little more defined. I have a six pack showing, but I want to do even better. What can I do to get even leaner? I am 5 ft 7 161 lbs.
I would substitute Raw Meal for something else, but I see so many crossfitters using Progenex which is not even natural. What could I substitute for a post workout quick meal? I am really trying to be as lean as possible. I see so many paleo things like pancakes with almond flour which I just dont believe in if you want to get ultra lean. Any advice or sample diets are appreciated.
No oats or yogurt and can the fruit for a bit. Idk bout the raw meal, but you sure do have a lot of it! Your body processes all of that as sugar! You will never gain weight from veggies so go to town. You really should add some fat! Cook your veggies in coconut oil.. Use quite a bit on your salad, put avacodos on your burger. Mix it up! Fish, chicken, steaks. And eat your protein in body weight. So you weight 160? Your protein goal is 160 grams a day!
This looks fairly solid; without body metrics or any other info, it's hard to give you anything more specific.
Are you specifically against paleo? It seems like you have "Raw Meal" quite often, but barring that, you're basically eating lacto-paleo already. If you're not seeing results with your current program, I'd consider going all the way, swapping out the oats and Raw Meal and giving paleo a go.
