Morning, Day, or Night shower? Is one better than the other?
What are your thoughts?
What do you do and why?
It is better to take hot showers in the morning as heat is stimulating and may keep you up if you shower too close to bed time. I often do some contrast hydro therapy before bed to promote relaxation. This involves alternating hot and cold exposures 3 times - 3 minutes hot followed by 30 seconds cold. Always ending on cold. This helps promote parasympathetic activity and is great way to get rid of pent up tension from a hard days work.
I feel best when the weekend comes and I don't have to shower. My skin really starts looking nice the longer I go without. I don't wear any deodorants either, or apply anything to my body, except soap. If you stay in shape you won't sweat much, or at least I don't. Staying off sugars and wearing sandals keeps foot odor virtually non-existent. I do miss soft water, went ten years with soft, now back to hard.
Both. I only use soap where it counts and no shampoo. So, dry skin isn't an issue. That said, my evening shower is for using a neti pot, winding down for bed, and cold exposure. My morning shower is for my sanity. The hot water helps with morning headaches from TMJ and sinus issues. It also makes the morning yoga easier. I sometimes take a shower after a run if I'm leaving the house and not remodeling. So I occasionally take three or more showers a day depending on what I'm doing. I don't have a clean office job.
I went to a holistic medical conference last month where they talked about moving water being energy donors and still water being energy stealers - thus, showers revive us and baths are calming, helping with sleep.
I don't know if it matters between morning or night but I've heard after sun exposure or magnesium oil application or ocean swimming, it's good to wait a few hours so your skin has time to absorb the nutrients. Vitamin D is created in the skin and then aborbed, so taking a shower right after sun exposure would be a mistake.
i shower after i workout. i don't shower if i don't workout that day. i just don't like smelling and being in my own sweat for hours. the time of the day is always different but i usually shower around 4-5 pm.
