I have this horrible habit when I'm bored in which I check this site multiple times a day and look up nutritional questions that come to mind. It's more addicting than Facebook (I know, bold statement)
Anyone else finding this to be a problem?
You are not addicted. The reason why you are coming back here is because we (humans) evolved to live in small groups (20-25 people) and need ongoing communication. Since these small groups shared the same activities, they had common topics to discuss (gossip, hunting, etc). Where I live, nobody knows about Paleo. If I brought up the subject, they would think I am crazy ( I have already tried). So the only way for me to communicate about my newly found lifestyle is to come to this place. I assume, the same goes for you.
I also participate in two other discussion boards, based on my current interests. One of them is Korean culture. Since I do not know any other people within 500 miles radius who would be interested in the same things I am (and I am as far from being Korean as it comes), Internet is the only convenient and reliable place to discuss issues that interest me.
I can prove to you that this is not an addiction. If your computer crashes (God forbid), you will be totally fine and very soon you will find a different group for communication. This website is just a cherry on top of your Paleo milkshake.
I have learned more about nutrition from Paleohacks that I have learned from any other source. I am sure you did too. I am amazed with the amount of knowledge, wisdom, experience and common sense that Paleohackers exhibit. I have never met people as intelligent, knowledgeable and open about a new lifestyle in real life. And every time I share my experience, this is my way of contributing to the Paleohack community.
Have a great day, everyone! :)
I'm watching robocop 3 and browsing this right now....
Edit: I think we're all in agreement this isn't really an addiction. I think of it more as positive reinforcement & an excellent resource for information.
I'll only say: add more incongruent experiences to your life! I don't mean this in a negative or condescending manner, and know that I have my days where I'm on PH at least a dozen times, but the days that I'm NOT? I'm hiking, I'm out on dates, I'm working overtime, I'm lifting, I'm sewing, I'm cooking, I'm reading, I'm creating, I'm dancing, I'm having sex; I am SO ALIVE!
You aren't doing anything wrong by being here, but this lifestyle (or rather, life in general) is defined by the moments of pure, engrossed, bliss!
I hate it when i check up on paleohacks and all the same questions are still on the front page.
I think its a subtle hint that maybe i should be doing something else with my time, maybe something more productive haha
Yes, and a bunch of other blogs as well. I asked a similar question myself recently: http://paleohacks.com/questions/109736/have-you-become-a-paleo-junkie#axzz1t1Mf3cUy
