I asked a few days ago about getting my thyroid test in my upcoming doctors appointment. Since I hadn't been to the doctor in a long time they tested a lot of different things. Everything came back normal except my lipid panel. Both my cholesterol and non HDL cholesterol were high (252 and 183). I don't really know how to interpret that, but of course having irregular test results has made me nervous. Also, on my thyroid they did a "TSH with reflex to T4" test and it came out .83 with the standard range being .32-5.50. When I was reading about hypothyroidism they said that one things it causes is high cholesterol. Could this be related? Or do I need to change my diet? I will talk to my doctor later this week but wanted some better insight to what's going on.

Kara if I were you I would want to have the following labs for sure if you have not already. Free T3 Free T4 TpoAb Reverse T3 TSH (you already have) Ferritin Vit D Cortisol TSH alone is not a comprehensive assessment of Thyroid function. You do have some symptoms of hypothyroid but it could be other things too. Good luck |
