I got some seaweed at the asian market (some of the long, straight stringy type that looks like noodles) and put it in a ziploc bag. I kept it in the refrigerator for a couple of days and I just took it out and there's some sort of...goo on it.

I'm aware that seaweed is quite slimy normally, but it looks like there's some sort of off-white colored goo on it that wasn't there before. It looks like someone ejaculated into my seaweed and mixed it in. When I separate the strands of seaweed, it looks almost like when you separate natto because the goo stretches. I'm kind of scared to eat it and I'm wondering what exactly this gunk could be.

Do you have roommates? There is the possibility that your seaweed, does indeed, contain ejaculatory fluids. Or, it's from Japan, and is now morphing into a nuclear three-eyed seaweed monster.Or, you put it into a non-breathable bag, whereupon condensation was able to build up and mush your weed. – Lyndsay Jun 13 at 3:29

I live in Japan. I eat every kind of seaweed they have. Never seen anything white, or like that. I'd throw it out.

I would guess mold and throw it out.

I'm assuming you're talking about wet/fresh seaweed and not dried, right? ('Cuz if you are talking about dried, I'd say the error was in putting in the fridge in the first place. The dry stuff you just want to keep in an airtight container in a cabinet or something. A dry place.)

Yes, it's the non-dried kind. – Roth Jun 12 at 23:27
