I have a health concern that I am really lost trying to narrow down, hope you can offer suggestions of things to look into.

The past couple of years, when I believe I catch a virus, I feel so incredibly, severely run down, fatigued and foggy, yet exhibit almost no "traditional" cold symptoms. I also seem to get sick with every virus going around or just when other people even mention them. I am on day 2 of this for this month, had a slight sore throat and just a little runny nose but mostly feel very run down, queasy. Temp is only 98.3 degrees.

For example, I have been sick 4 times in the past 6 months. At the beginning of Jan, Feb, March and now June, I have had this feeling. Since it's the same time of the month, I'm wondering if it's hormone related (or maybe just a coincidence).

When I get sick I normally take lots of herbs, with capsules, tea and a tincture. I take a homeopathic remedy and drink lots of bone broth. I used to think getting run down for a couple of days without the other symptoms meant I was fighting it off better, but with each one I feel worse and am starting to wonder if there is an issue with my immune system. Although a runny nose, cough and fever are uncomfortable, that is a healthy/normal reaction, right? And this feeling is far worse than typical cold symptoms.

So I'm really not sure if this is an immune thing, hormone thing, or what, so I don't even know which kind of doctor to seek out for help. Your ideas and suggestions are appreciated.

Other pertinent info: I'm a 31 year old female, who in the past year healed serious gut dysbiosis and discovered I have very low cortisol levels. 2 months ago I started an adrenal healing protocol and stopped using caffeine for over 40 days, now just a couple of cups of tea a week and no coffee. I eat paleo with limited cultured dairy and have one gluten-free but grain pizza a month. Moderate alcohol. Celiac/gluten reactive.

Signed confused and feeling like shite in Colorado : (

yes, your immune system is weak and/or stupid. hopefully you are eating non-allergenic, robust foods frequently, like weekly grass fed liver, gelatin/bone broths etc, but even these will not save you if you are still ingesting or around allergens.

once you know you are doing the best you can,. theres a product called immunolin or xymogen df 2000 that is like extra immune system support. its expensive and worth it. the other options are serious high quality medicinal mushrooms, and retraining the body to not be sick so often (love yourself, acupuncture, massage, etc)

a stupid immune system. Really? What does that even mean? – Crowlover Jun 15 at 5:44
But +1 for some suggestions. No? – MrsD Jun 15 at 6:10
I actually have the xymogen immunoglobulin DF2000. I got it last fall to assist with gut healing, but really don't understand what it is or what it all does... there isn't much info on the innernets about it. I started taking it again last night thanks to your suggestion. – Lynn Jun 15 at 18:12
good question, what kinds of proteins does it have? I see what it doesnt but I'm allergic to beef so have to check to make sure its not a beef byproduct of some sort....I couldnt find info either....but looks like a good product – Kelly Jun 15 at 18:43

Lynn Im sorry for what you are going through. It sounds hard.
Im unclear how it could be a hormone related issue.... what you your thinking by that? I have dealt with and am continuing to deal with hormone issues (thyroid, estrogen, progesterone, testoserone, cortisol, DHEA) and I don't see how your issue might be related to hormones.
I suspect you have a lingering Virus of some sort. Perhaps some colloidal silver would help you.
I use Natural Path Silver Wings.
good luck

Hormones was just an idea totally pulled from my arse because it's been happening at the same time of the month... whenever I see a monthly pattern, being a woman, I automatically think hormones – Lynn Jun 15 at 0:02
Right. Makes sense. What part of your cycle is this occurring? – Crowlover Jun 15 at 0:08
Mid cycle, right when I'm supplementing with oral progesterone (100 mg). Might be a connection? I've been taking the progesterone for more like a year though, not sure why it would all of a sudden impact me like that. My doc was surprised my prog levels weren't higher considering I'm supplementing. – Lynn Jun 15 at 0:19
hmmmm YOu might consider switching to a progesterone cream. Good stuff – Crowlover Jun 15 at 0:23
a product called "progest-e" is the very best. – dsohei Jun 15 at 2:50

Have you had any bloodwork done? That might give some clues.

What kind of bloodwork? I don't even know where to start... – Lynn Jun 15 at 18:11
Go see an allergist or better yet an allergist/rheumatologist if you can find one. They can check levels of inflammation and known allergens like wheat and wheat gluten. – karmapolicia Jun 29 at 16:18

Are you eating low carb? This will increase stress and make you feel terrible

Also are you depressed and not realising it? This can make you exhausted

There is too much focus on the specific tweaking of macronutrients, have you got the basics right? Are you staying away from stress? Are you eating a decent amount of carbs each day?
