I have family members that are allergic to Paleo staples-all nuts, coconuts (even the oil), most seeds (like sunflower), eggs, & avocado. For the most part we just eat meat, fruit, & veggies but sometimes a cake, wrap, or cookies are really wanted by my husband and kids. I have been occasionally using the standard gluten free all purpose mixes because I can't use almond and coconut flours and the like. I can't even do a "flourless" cake because of egg allergies. Should I not worry so much about the occasional gluten free bakery item or the use of standard gluten free flour for birthdays & such? They also use organic sprouted corn tortillas because we can't do the coconut wraps like most Paleo folks. We are are healthy and fit with appropriate body composition (not over or under-weight/fat).

wow, this is a challenge! I can think of a few, but not sure how 'substituting' them might actually work so I'll just randonly toss them out there for you!!! Not necessarily 'paleo' but should be fine if tolerated for special things: Oats-you can powder them up and make a 'flour' rice flour-I don't use it, but I've seen it tapioca flour-(is from yucca) again, I' don't use it but have seen in receipes (I think most receipes call for a small amount of rice, tapioca flours mixed) egg replacement, I've seen 'chia seeds' soaked, they get 'gelly' and can be used as egg substitute there are a ton of great resources on Pin interest (grain free, egg free, dairy free, etc. to search even Paleo or GAPS).... hope this helps! if I think of anything else, I'll post back! |
