I'm thinking of going Bulletproof for a while (as much out of laziness as anything: fewer, fat-filled meals = less work).

But 50-60% of daily macros in fat? Where am I going to get this without, as Aspery does, having a stick of butter in my coffee? Suggestions and success stories re: Bulletproofing would be greatly appreciated.

Cream in your coffee would be a good start. :-) – Michael Jun 18 at 21:00
BTW he only has to do that cause he eats like 4000 calories a day or something from my understanding. – JayJay Jun 19 at 2:46

HWC at 411 calories per half cup can allow you to put your fat% as high as you'd like. Its what I use. Trader Joes has an organic heavy cream that has but one ingredient - Cream. Yummy stuff.

I don't go out of my way to eat particularly fatty meals, and my daily intake is 55% and up.

Bacon and eggs with veggies for breakfast. Black coffee (If I took cream I'm sure it would be even higher).

Salad with leftover meats, a whole avocado, and nuts with dressing made from 2tbsp leftover bacon fat (from breakfast) and apple cider vinegar.

Steak and veggies in butter for dinner.

I average about 2300 cal/day or thereabouts.

Same here. Just the (fairly conservative) fat I use in cooking and topping off veggies, in addition to a few eggs and full fat dairy and I'm easily close to 50% of my daily caloric intake in fat. – Kay Jun 19 at 3:39

Very easy....

First: Just choosing the fatty bone in cuts of meat gets you most of the way there (80/20 ground beef is 65% fat by calorie).

Next: Cook with good fats. Butter, Olive oil, coconut oil...cook your veggies and whatever else in it.

Final step: Bask in the glory of eating good tasting food and a macro ration of better than 50% of diet from healthy fats!

Are there are fats that you enjoy? I love butter and now that I have found it, coconut butter and I find it easy to OD on both. That said, I know shakes are not optimal, but maybe you could use one shake a day to get your fat in it you can't do it any other way. I'm thinking a shake with any kind of butter, nut, coconut, avocado or oil added.

Good luck, love to know how you feel on that diet.

are you a forest firefighter? what level of strain are you under that you need that much fat calories? are you going to go low carb too? and do you understand what that does to your thyroid? are you in a major bulking phase and need to grow tons of new muscle tissue?

Wow... don't know if I should cry, sigh, or laugh. The guy didn't even mention what his caloric intake was, just that the fat macros were going to be high. As far as low carb and thyroid, I guess "thyroid" is the new "kidney failure" as far as low-carb boogeymen are concerned. – Joshua Jun 20 at 3:10
too bad we can't viciously slap ill-advised, inexperienced trolls on paleohacks. – dsohei Jun 21 at 23:02
