Hi! I'am an IBS sufferer , and I'm paleo about 1 month... but I wanna get GAPS.!
I read a lot of manuals about it , but I can't find a lot of differences!
Can you tell me if this kind of diet could called GAPS?
I AVOID :
LEGUMES - CEREALS - SOLANACEAE - DAIRY - CARBOIDRDATES (EXCEPT CARBO OF VEGETABLES ) - SUGARS
I EAT :
MEAT (A LOT ) - FISH - VEGETABLES - BONE BROTH .
IS MY DIET A GAPS DIET? WHAT SHOULD I CHANGE ?
Honestly, your best bet is to just get the book (and the supplement reading - GAPS Guide) and read thorugh it because it has SO much information that we'd be here all day if we had to type it out.
Basically, GAPS is a diet that ONLY includes easy to digest foods when your body is able to digest them. This means you will have to initially cut out all vegetables as well (even green leafy vegetables.) You will probably ave to cut out fruit and dairy for several months. Possibly even up to a year. Any vegetables you do eat will not be raw.
The diet is very heavy on animal products, as those are the easiest to digest. The diet also places a huge impact on supplementing with high-quality probiotics. You can not do GAPS without a therapeutic strength probiotic (and these tend to be quite expensive.) Kombucha is not considered GAPS-legal. GAPS is a therapeutic diet meaning you do not have to be on it for the rest of your life, only until your symptoms subside and your body is healed. You should probably know that a GAPS Diet is going to generally be more expensive than a regular diet, even a Paleo Diet in most cases.
Unlike Paleo, GAPS doesn't "do" cheat days. If you cheat on GAPS, you could potentially be setting yourself back and causing your body and head a lot of very physical grief. There is a LOT of detox on GAPS to the point where you'll be saying "I can feel myself detoxing and I just want to cry" and let me warn you, it sucks so much. But even so, GAPS works and its hard to argue with results. You need to be physically and emotionally prepared to do GAPS because it's a full-time job. Most of the meals take hours to prepare and there is no such thing as a quick meal on GAPS. Your symptoms may initially get worse or may go through waves of better-worse-awesome-horrible-better-worse-awesome-etc-etc. eventually things will calm down and you will only be feeling "better."

I highly recommend that you read the answers to this question:
If you follow the various links in the answers it will help you to put the pieces together of what GAPS is. GAPS is more involved than what you're asking.
