So I'm looking for a good iphone app that tracks food. I'm looking for one that breaks stuff down, like carbs and proteins and fats type break down, not so much one that counts calories in/calories out. One that actually works well and won't run me $5+. Any suggestions?

And for all those who wanna make those "Iphones ain't Paleo!?OMG!!" comments.. Don't.

I use the Loseit app and the loseit.com website. I am tracking macro percentages for my n=1 experiments. It will track calories, but I don't care much about them.

I use LoseIt, too. Love it. Very customizable as far as adding your own foods and what nutrients it tracks/displays.

I use myfitnesspal. It is free, has a really large database from what I could tell out of the free ones, you can add your foods (from nutritional labels) as well as make recipes for stuff you commonly make so you can add it all together instead of ingredient by ingredient. It breaks stuff down into graphs (the macronutrient ratio piechart is my favorite) by day or by week. It also has a barcode scanner which is convenient for things with barcodes (which is of course greatly reduced by eating paleo). The only thing I don't like about it is it's nutrition recommendations.

I use the free app associated with Calorie Count - www.caloriecount.about.com

The daily analysis break down macros and also gives nutrient counts. You can set it for certain daily percentages, too.

I love cronometer.com (app on both iphone & android) to complement the free website service.

Pro's: awesome nutritional breakdown, looks awesome, really slick web interface.

Con: Can't enter stuff by ounces. At first, this really put me off, but then I just rough it out as 30g = 1 ounce. So, for 5 ounces, I just enter 150g (close enough). The pro's really out weigh the con's.

I LUV cronometer!

But are you able to add your own foods? Like lets say I eat some marinated olives, is there a place to enter in the nutritional info? Or those random hard ciders I have once a month? – Crabbycakes Jun 25 at 2:25
Yes, u can enter your own foods, AND recipes. The recipe thing works much better than mynetdiary.com which I had been using. – CaveMan_Mike Jun 25 at 2:57

I use mynetdiary. It's a paid app and totally worth it. I can't live without it.

We just launched an app where you can get nutrition info from real food. Check it out at http://www.foodsnap.mobi
