So I'm looking for a good iphone app that tracks food. I'm looking for one that breaks stuff down, like carbs and proteins and fats type break down, not so much one that counts calories in/calories out. One that actually works well and won't run me $5+. Any suggestions?
And for all those who wanna make those "Iphones ain't Paleo!?OMG!!" comments.. Don't.
I use myfitnesspal. It is free, has a really large database from what I could tell out of the free ones, you can add your foods (from nutritional labels) as well as make recipes for stuff you commonly make so you can add it all together instead of ingredient by ingredient. It breaks stuff down into graphs (the macronutrient ratio piechart is my favorite) by day or by week. It also has a barcode scanner which is convenient for things with barcodes (which is of course greatly reduced by eating paleo). The only thing I don't like about it is it's nutrition recommendations.
I love cronometer.com (app on both iphone & android) to complement the free website service.
Pro's: awesome nutritional breakdown, looks awesome, really slick web interface.
Con: Can't enter stuff by ounces. At first, this really put me off, but then I just rough it out as 30g = 1 ounce. So, for 5 ounces, I just enter 150g (close enough). The pro's really out weigh the con's.
