I've had dark circles for a while and no amount of sleep seems to affect it one way or the other. I did about 4 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, soaked in apple cider vinegar for an hour and my dark circles reduced by at least 50%. It's very visible improvement. Anyone have any idea why this would be?

I know it's not the ACV because I consume that on a daily basis.

Time for a clinical trial of effect of hallucinogens on under eye circles. – Karen Jul 3 at 17:12

VB, magic mushrooms are not poisonous and they're definitely paleo to boot. – BoneBrothFast Jul 3 at 18:00

Well, since psilocybin apparently reduces blood flow to the head, perhaps the blood vessels around your eyes are getting less blood.

Shouldn't the improvement disappear several hours after consuming the mushrooms then? It's been several days and my dark circles still look improved. – BoneBrothFast Jul 3 at 17:59
Not necessarily. The other, spiritual/mental effects of psilocybin tend to linger (for days and weeks and even months). Maybe the physical effects do, too, especially if the mental effects are linked to the reduced blood flow. – Erik Cisler Jul 3 at 20:05

Psilocybin is NOT poison. It is actually a powerful medicine that needs to be treated with great care and respect. If done in this way, it can have great healing properties.

Psilocybin reduces my level of rheumatoid arthritis inflammation.

I agree with this, although there are small amounts of other poisonous alkaloids in the mushrooms, that's why you get that little tinge of sickness that usually accompanies the beginning of a trip. its generally not such a huge load and the body can overcome this and body, mind and spirit can benefit from the effects of the mushrooms. I think that often we forget to hydrate properly during experiences, and I would suggest having some ginger/cocoa tea during and a pot of broth rolling along for when the effects wear off and appetite is restored and also being sure to allow ones self time to – jessica Apr 20 at 14:22
have unlimited sleep after the experience and avoid any other chemicals(smoking of all leaves, alcohol, etc) before, during and after the experience – jessica Apr 20 at 14:23

you can use them if you suffer from cluster headaches--but you need to have a certain dosage.

I've always heard this. Has it ever been studied in a controlled trial? It would be a godsend to millions of migraine sufferers, but of course studying Schedule I drugs is basically impossible. Thanks a lot, Puritans. – trjones Jul 3 at 17:32
The same ingredient that is in mushrooms that gives benefits to migraine sufferers is available in drugs like sumatriptan, etc. – primaldog Jul 3 at 19:24

I love shrooms. I have nothing else to say. :) Except:

"Maybe those were eye clouds, man, and the shrooms cleared up your face."

That probably wasn't helpful. I think the bloodflow answer is good.

Maybe you laughed so hard your stress under eye circles disappeared?

Doesn't make you laugh. And it's not really a giggly type of thing, it makes you learn and see. – BoneBrothFast Sep 11 at 1:15
Doesn’t make you laugh? man I must be doing it wrong B-) – Scotty Von Porkchop Sep 11 at 15:31

No idea, but thanks for the flashback!

The last time I did 'shrooms was in 1990 and I was up all night, paranoid that I would stop breathing...

I have no idea, but I think it is worth shooting an email to or contacting Paul Stamets via facebook. He was my mycology professor, he is smart as a whip, and is the mushroom guy.

Will do, thanks for the tip. – BoneBrothFast Jul 3 at 22:32
