Yesterday I developed a killer headache. I haven't had one in months. The only thing that was unusual was that I made a pie (nectarine-blueberry if you must know) for my family. Did not eat any of it, but did have a little of the gelato that I served with it. Can just breathing in flour cause a migraine? Ack...I took 3 ibuprofen during the night and 2 more a couple of hours ago and it still hasn't gone away!

Yes, it can. I get migraines from gluten too, and if you are really sensitive flour is more than enough to do it. |

unless you're really really sensitive, i'd say it is something else. stress...pms (if you're female...this is my one guaranteed migraine)...smells from other things. Any of the fruit you were dealing with...any of it a little on the squishy side? I'm highly sensitive to mold so that does it to me, too. Sometimes i get them from walking through produce stores or farmers markets Certain cleaners... Make them another pie and find out! :) |

I have found that any stress can trigger a migraine. Wheat flour is definitely a stressor for any human being, whether they know it or not, since we are not genetically adapted to wheat. |

It is not always easy to determine the cause. Reaction to food additives/preservatives may take up to 1 or 2 days. Also a combination of stressors can trigger a migraine or cluster headache. Nitrites and other food preservatives and flavour enhancers affect me. Hormone levels in pre-menopausal females may also come into the equation. |
