The other day I was at work, and talking to a co worker. I told her I was on a paleo lifestyle and that I dont eat breads or pasta because I am allergic to gluten. She replies "You should be careful because you might be missing important vitamins and nutrients from not eating breads or gluten. Then she adds that she puts double the amount of gluten when she bakes. I looked at her in confusion because I dont think she knows what gluten is or what she is talking about. So what is the most ridiculous thing someone has said or told you when you said you were paleo?

She may have been referring to the wheat gluten that is sold for bakers to increase the protein content of their flours (for bread, pizza). It's quite common. BUT she's certainly confused about gluten versus the magical vitamins in the whole grain! Gluten is quite a refined product. – syrahna Jul 8 at 3:25

I'm thinking she's talking about "vital wheat gluten" which adds to the texture. Also used as seitan, I believe. Either way, it personally sounds "death in a bag" for me (all of us). Just the thought of it makes my intestines cry out in fear. – LastingOne Jul 8 at 6:20

^ No comment on the question, but but that reminds me of walter, from the tv show fringes melt-down rant in the supermarket reading the ingredients of some toaster pastries "Potassium Bromate! Do you know what you're putting into our bodies? Death! Delicious, strawberry-flavored death!" – Jamie Jul 8 at 13:46

A friend of mine told me that I'm trying to become anorexic...

The mother-in-law... "Don't get too thin! Make sure you don't starve!" (Right, because we're the malnourished ones..) When my husband explained the football pitch example of evolution, the response was: "Well I can't live without potatoes."
