I'm looking into upgrading my workstation at home to a sit to stand desk. I'm hyper and like to move around, so I figure a setup that allows me to change how I work while working would be great.

One thing I have not heard covered on here much is adjustable stools. Sometime you just want to sit, and I think a stool that adjust to close to standing height would be great. Any suggestions on stools to look at? Ideally I like to have my knees lower than my butt when sitting to force my body toward the screen. I think this would help with drawing on a wacom board and looking at dual screens.

A back rest would be nice too for times your tired.

I must have been here on PH for too long. I thought this question was about poop (stools) and desks. I was really interested to see how the author connected them. – Caveman Kyle Aug 5 at 20:16

Two options come to mind..

Personally I'm on a fitness ball right now.

Muvman is a possiblity. I wish it had a back to it though. for leaning back in. – primallykosher Jul 8 at 21:00
Thanks for posting - I like the idea behind the Muvman. Is the price tag justified? Seriously considering buying one.. Thanks – elaichi Jan 22 at 4:27

I use a standing desk at work, and barefoot Merrells which does get a little tiring from time to time, and i agree, sometimes you just need a break.

I've been using this one from Ikea. You can't tell from the pic, but it actually is on a threaded post and adjusts quite high. I'm 6ft tall and I can make it sit pretty much at the height I would be when standing, so I can sit and keep working.

I bought these for myself and a standing coworker. So far, pretty good. I can halfway sit without having to adjust the laptop stand and only need a bit more 'reach' to type normally versus when I'm standing.

Note they're not on sale on this site anymore, but to give you an idea...
