Hey guys, I've been paleo for around 3 months now. My current weight is 70kg and I'm 161cm tall I've been in ketosis for 5 days and intend on staying in it for 7 weeks

I've been craving a banana smoothie all day and I'm just wondering if it's possible to make one without breaking my ketosis? Any suggestions are welcome

Just for the record I do drink milk once a weigh

For the record I'm proud that I'm craving a banana smoothie as apposed to a chocolate milkshake like I used too – Julia Jul 10 at 12:39

strange that we should have a taste for these things when we are not supposed to eat them, is it not? – foreveryoung Jul 10 at 13:42

It will lower your ketosis for the time it takes to burn through the energy in the banana, which could be a few hours. If you eat it pre or post workout, it will preferentially replenish glycogen and probably not knock you out of ketosis. – Dave S. Jul 10 at 13:45

A banana has between 20-30 carbs, depending on the size. That, in and of itself is not enough to totally stop ketosis, so I would say go for it.

I say just go for it. Eating it after a workout will have the least impact, but seriously we are talking about ONE banana here there are far worse things you could be eating instead.

that was my view as well Greg :) – Julia Jul 10 at 22:43

The sugar content in bananas is pretty high. Even without the addition of the milk sugars, that's not likely to be conducive to keeping up the ketosis, if that's your aim.

It's possible, but everybody is different. Why don't you have banana blended with coconut milk and ice? Just ONE glass.

Go ahead! make it with 1 banana, 1 can of Goya coconut milk, 1 tsp. cinnamon powder, 6 packets of Stevia and a handful of cashews. The cinnamon will reduce the glycemic load of the banana. This roughly will have 30 gr. of carbs

Don't cheat at all for the first 3 weeks. You need to become keto adapted first.
