I've been trying to heal my teeth as the dentist wants me to spend $5000 on treatments. I've been doing a lot of research on different things to use naturally but there are so many different ideas and suggestions. One was the miswak stick tht is supposed to be what people have been using for thousands of years. Anyone use it and get good results? The issues I'm facing are: gum disease-I have a few pockets that are 4-5mm. I have some decay from crowns that they want to replace, 1 cavity, and some receding gums from braces that are pretty bad and they say need a skin graft pronto. What would be the best mouth regimend to heal my mouth fast? Also found a site called orawellness. They have a whole system, a special tooth brush and deep pocket applicator. Or would I be better off going with a sonic care toothbrush and brush with coconut oil/baking soda/bentonite clay? I have soo many questions :/
Oil pulling may help with the deep pockets: http://www.jonbarron.org/detox/nl110404/oil-pulling-strong-immunity
I use sunflower oil, but have heard others use olive oil and coconut oil. I tried olive and found it to be too thick and left me with a "motor oil" taste in my mouth. I have not tried coconut oil. I don't believe in all of the "pulls toxins from your body" rhetoric, but my gums are so much healthier than they were before. I usually do it once a week; more often if something has irritated my gums.
I also use a Sonicare toothbrush with just water after an oil pulling and with a homemade remineralizing toothpaste all other times. http://everydaypaleo.com/2011/09/27/easy-remineralizing-toothpaste-recipe/
I have done a lot of research and testing on tooth issues, though I am not a health professional. For the fairly severe issues you are talking about, I would approach this in two ways - internally and externally.
Internally: Diet. Have you read "Cure Tooth Decay" by Ramiel Nagel. This book discusses the critical important of high quality fats, such as from raw (un-homogenized / unpasteurized ) milk, raw butter, fermented cod-liver oil, and grass-fed beef liver, as well as the gelatin obtained from making soup broth from the bones - for preventing tooth decay and even re-mineralizing teeth. And there is more I could write, if you are interested.
Externally: One product that I have used which works incredibly for gum issues is Ioxin from "Baar" in Downingtown, Pa. - Massaging just a few drops into the gums (with your finger) several times a day almost always brings incredible results. I have also used the Miswak stick, and it works amazingly to remove stains, and also noticed a nice tingling feeling in gums; so it may help with gum issues. As inexpensive as both these products are - I'd try them both.
The oil pulling may be beneficial. I've tried it though, and did not notice amazing results - though maybe something.
The miswak, or sewak, is nature’s own tooth brush and has been used for centuries in Middle Eastern & African societies as a natural method for cleaning teeth and maintaining complete dental and oral hygiene. The miswak has been recommended by the World Health Organization for its dental hygiene benefits and scientific research confirms its antibacterial and plaque fighting properties.
lol, i had a tonsil-breath problem which really was annoying because i couldnt even talk to anyone! Any how as i grew my faith grew, one of our islamic sunnah's is to use sewak,, and it amazing how using it before each prayer helped with my stains AND no mor tonsilitis! I swear this miswak thing is amazing if you use it 50 times a day you never get side effects, but only the good effects increase.., amazing !
Neem oil...I brush with it and it is simply amazing and nasty too. I had inflamed gums that were painful I saw Neem oil in an Indian store and decided to buy it not even knowing what it was for. When I got home and researched it I found out about it's healing properties. I used it one time and the inflammation disappeared now I brush with it everyday.
