So I read that these two are synergistic and you should take both, that's why Green Pasture even makes a butter/cod oil blend which I've been getting. I'm wondering if I need to eat both at the same time, do they need each other for absorption (like how you need certain fats to absorb certain minerals), or will I get the same benefit separately? I'm thinking of just ordering the pure fermented cod liver oil liquid because it is quite a bit cheaper than the blend and eating my butter separately with my meals.

If you are looking for the additional value of vitamin K2, then the butter oil blend is likely your best choice. Fermented cod liver oil on its own may have some K2 value, but with the butter oil added, the K2 value is higher. Butter oil is not the same as eating grass-fed butter or ghee as it is much more concentrated, however, if you feel you eat a very large quantity of grass-fed butter, you may find that you want to only purchase the FCLO on its own. |
