My wife just came home from her 'gathering trip' (went to the store) and brought back my requested avacados. How do I store uncut avacados and how long can I store them. I usually buy them and put them in something. I find they go really well as a substitute for mayo in tuna wraps. HELP ME! I have never had any to store!

They should be soft to the touch and give a little with a gentle squeeze. If they are hard leave them out at room temp until they ripen. If they are ripe I would place them in the fridge. |

I know you didn't ask this but once you cut them, if you have a Foodsaver you can vacuum seal a half avocado (I leave the pit in) and it will keep for a couple of weeks in the fridge. I'm not a huge avocado fan so I use them sparingly and this works well for me. |

I buy a dozen or so avocados when they are on sale at Aldi (Price match at Walmart to get the giant ones for Aldi price!) then I store them in the bottom drawer of the fridge in one of the "As seen on TV, green bags" They will stay fresh for 6 weeks or longer. I just take one out of the green bag and set it out to ripen. I save a lot of $$ by buying them in bulk when on sale and storing in green bags. |

Squeeze on a bunch of lime. It also makes it tasty and wrap in foil and put in fridge (or in Tupperware). Next time your at the store look for an avocado storer. It stores a half of an avocado. I love it! |
