Thanks to the Real Food Summit I found a raw, grass-fed whey protein powder. Has anyone here come across this? Tried it? What do you think of it?

You can learn more about it at the following 2 links: http://www.rawwheyprotein.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=1817 http://completehealthdallas.com/RawWheyProtein.html

I haven't enjoyed whey protein all year but do love smoothies with them. I think I might try this although its very expensive. Do you think it's worth the cost?

Does it matter whether or not it's grass fed after it's been processed so much? – Tyler F Jul 16 at 19:24
I'd be interested to know this too, thanks for asking. Would also be nice to see how people tolerate it compared to traditional whey. I've noticed a bit of a difference between standard (Dymantize etc) versus more pure sources (Absolute etc), but I still don't tolerate it very well. Whey is whey, for me :( – Ashley Jul 16 at 19:26

I personally don't think it is worth the money. grass fed affects the fat more than the whey isolate. – RaiseFitness Jul 16 at 19:36

Is is "worth the money" to continue to support the abomination that is factory farming? Grass-fed is always the right choice. – Shari Bambino Jul 17 at 8:25

Tyler F - No. Not for us really but I'd still prefer something from a grass-fed animal compared to one that is raised in a factory. – Primal Toad Jul 19 at 0:59

My thought is that if most of the evil ends up in the fat, and the isolate filters out all the fat, do you still need the grass fed isolate that costs 3 times more? Or maybe I'm being cheap.

You are right. It's probably not worth the cost at all. I just would rather still buy something from a grass-fed cow. – Primal Toad Jul 19 at 1:00

upgradedself.com/upgraded-whey.html

The upgraded whey doesn't come from cheese production so there is less mycotoxins

I prefer this product to whey powders. It's cold processed so the proteins aren't damaged the way they are when exposed to heat processing. This one is plant based but it comes from several different plant protein sources so it has a complete amino acid profile. Check it out here (Amazon sells it too): http://www.sunwarrior.com/product-info/warrior-blend/
