I would like to be tested for iron and thyroid deficiencies. I'm in Delaware myself, so I don't know if there is someone who is paleo friendly or a more functional approach to healthcare for my primary care doctor. Its hard to contact my current doctor so I was thinking of changing to another.

I see a physician in Newark, DE (Susan Peluso, MD) who I find is very compatible with the Paleo lifestyle. She is a bit unconventional in that she actually takes time to sit down and talk to her patients to get the 'whole' story. She specializes in endocrine/diabetes and internal medicine.

I also have recently begun to see an endocrinologist (Amy Wachter, MD) for hypothyroid issues, and woud recommend her as well. She sees patients in North Wilmington and Bear, DE (almost in Maryland).

Hope this helps! The patient/physician relationship is so personal that it's tough to find a match sometimes.

Looks like there is an MD 26 miles a way. I wonder if my insurance covers that though since he is in a different state. – primallykosher Jul 17 at 1:09
You can call and see if they take your insurance. I don't think the location matters. – Chinaeskimo Jul 17 at 3:42

I think you're looking for a DO doctor instead of an MD. DO doctors help to find the root of the cause rather than just writing you a prescription and sending you out the door. I would try googling "DO physicians" in your area.
