Interesting programme on BBC1 on Sports Dink lucazade, Protein drinks and sports shoes? whats everyone opinions? I think smash a huge black coffee and drink water #back2basics, water, squash and salt, that is all most sports hydration drinks are!

I missed it, will try and catch it on iPlayer over the weekend. If not hope someone puts it on youtube. I've seen some of these 'Truth about' programs, generally its an n=1 experiment but the BBC does things very well and thoroughly thought out. |

Very interesting program. A few of my thoughts can be found here (along with links to the two other 'truth about' programs on exercise and fat, and with a link to the research behind the current episode). |

I only drink water ever. I live with three fit sons who do a lot of sport. They are constantly bombarded with marketing about these kinds of drinks here in the UK. For the first time in 20 years the only drinks in the house are water. I am so pleased. There is nothing that has damaged the health of young people so much in the US and UK as moving from drinking water to soft drinks/cola and diet colas and the sports drinks are no better and never have been. They are full of junk and sugar. They feed sugar addictions. They include lots of caffeine in many of them and all kinds of additives. You do not need them ever. |
