Just wondering, if you had to minimize the diversity of your diet, and were forced to live on only 4 foods, which would they be? Curious to see what people pick and what your reasoning is behind it.

I can't do it. I would have to give up coffee, chocolate and cheese for more nutritious food like eggs and salmon. SHOOT. ME. NOW. Okay, okay. Coffee, chocolate, eggs and cheese. At least I would have plenty of magnesium! |

Bananas, Eggs, Almond Butter, unsweetened cocoa. Mix those together and you can make that paleo mug cake. Seriously, I could be happy forever with that. |

Can I choose food "groups" instead? =)
Hopefully I'll be on an island so I can obtain salt from the sea. My hell would be to only have available: 1. Goat; 2. green bell peppers; 3. tarragon; 4. and catfish. |

Ow WOW!!!! What an interesting thought. Hmmmm... 1) Ground beef...because it offers endless possibilities 2) Apples...cause they are a great source of all kinds of good things 3) Salmon...cause I just dig Salmon 4) Dove Dark Chocolate Squares...cause man cannot live on beef, apples, and salmon alone. |

Beef, eggs, broccoli, butter. These are the four foodstuffs I already eat most frequently, and nutritionally I'd probably come out okay. Oh, and coffee (on the grounds that it's a beverage, not a food item). |

Coconut, Banana, Pumpkin, Macadamia. I know I should pick a meat (I'm not vego or anything), buy I just got back from hiking and diving in PNG and they practically live on coconut milk, banana and pumpkin tips traditionally. The folks there that were eating these traditionally foods as a main diet where fit, healthy and happy. You can do alot with a whole pumpkin plant and a whole coconut - so many things to extract from them. Bananas make a great portable snack as do macadamias. Not saying I'd be happy not eating meat, but these things seem more essential :) |

Beef, chocolate, eggs, broccoli (If I was allowed a fifth I'd add in salmon, as that looks pretty much like my average diet anyway, lol.) |

I had to do this for a few months for an elimination diet to figure out what was causing me to react to foods. I ate almost exclusively beef, kale, sweet potato, and coconut oil. I picked those because they seemed to cover my bases for micro and macro nutrients, and because I could manage to eat just those and not get sick of them. |

Realistically, I'd never do this. Our ancestors mostly ate a wide variety, and there are too many seasonal delights. |

eggs, liver, coconut, berries I'd have to choke down the liver, but I'm B12 deficient so it would be necessary for survial |
