Just wondering, if you had to minimize the diversity of your diet, and were forced to live on only 4 foods, which would they be? Curious to see what people pick and what your reasoning is behind it.

  1. Wild-caught fish b/c its delish! Plus, fishing is a an awesome and super primal way of obtaining your dinner
  2. Coconut b/c it's like a fruit, a nut, and a great source of fat all in one
  3. Clarified butter b/c you can cook anything w/ it(especially fish)
  4. Broccoli b/c it's one of the most nutrient packed veggies around

This is my personal list of must-haves & I think everyone should have one too (: 1+ for posting such a cool & thought provoking question

I agree with a poster above - hopefully I could obtain salt from the sea - or my list would drastically change. With that caveat in mind, my list would be:

  1. Pork

  2. Eggs

  3. Ghee (or coconut oil - hard to decide)

  4. Apples

1) Spirulina/Seaweed -- not that I like it, but it may be the most complete nutrient food available
2) Kale -- I prefer spinach, but again if I can only eat four things
3) Sweet Potato -- not much carbs in teh first two, and we need carbs
4) Chicken -- yes chicken is lower in fat than beef or pig, but chickens also include eggs (see I snuck a 5th in there)

  1. Copper River Salmon
  2. Dandelion greens/kale greens/beet greens (I could eat them forever, so yummy!)
  3. Coconut (and barrels of it-- the good islander stuff, of course)
  4. Sweet Potatoes

It is amazing to me how many people need eggs! Seriously, I would miss out way more on my veggies than eggs, but that's IMHO.

Well. I think, mentally at least, I could survive on four foods--I wouldn't miss the others because I would dream about them every night. I'd probably pick:

Honeycrisp apples, because they are delicious any time of day and the perfect snack. (Other than the fructose content. . .)

Chicken stir-fry, because it has such variety within it and would give me my veggies, too. (is that cheating?. . . whatever. it tastes good.)

Shrimp. I love shrimp. Probably the hardest thing to give up when I went paleo was shrimp-scampi.

Eh, probably eggs, because you can cook them so many ways and they taste good pretty much every way. Plus, they have a fairly decent fat content, which seems to be lacking in my four foods. If not eggs, then tomatoes, so I could make sun-dried tomatoes. Yummy.
