Ladies, do you have any ideas for making your own natural BB (beauty balm)? Commercially sold beauty balm is a combo of moisturizer, tinted foundation, and sunscreen, in one step. I currently use a face-wash, grapeseed oil for moisture, then apply mineral powder foundation. Do you think think I could make my own mix? What should I store it in?

If you'd like to try making your own natural cosmetics, it's easy to do. Materials can be bought at TKB Trading (http://www.tkbtrading.com/), Coastal Scents, Brambleberry; and there are wonderful books that teach you how such as Recipes for Color Cosmetics, or The Complete Idiot's Guide to Making Natural Beauty Products. Great state of the art skin art ingredients can be bought at Skinactives.com as well. |

I would use coconut oil/100% cocoa butter on your skin, either soap, honey or just plain water to wash your face, and buy mineral pigments from online like others have suggested and try using that as your foundation/or just keep the foundation you have now. If you wear other makeup such as blush, cut open a beet, rub your finger on the flesh so you get the juice and blend on your cheeks(I've used this method and it looks like natural blushing of the skin). You can also use the beet for your lips as a lipstain, and then go over that with homemade lip balm made with oils and beeswax or 100% cocoa butter. Honestly I dont see a reason to blend it and make a mixture. I use oil on face first then apply my mineral foundation. I think that mixing would waste alot of mineral foundation and you'd end up with a muddy/cakey face. |
