I have heard that dark chocolate has lots of magnesium.

I have heard that dark chocolate has lots of phytic acid.

Doesn't the one counteract the other or am I wrong on one of these points?

Thanks for your help!

I would not rely on "pleasure foods" as nutrient staples. Red Wine, coffee, dark chocolate, honey and such sould be consumed as a comfort option, rather than a daily source of anything.

Just as in the same fashion as always, the key is "rotation, rotation, rotation".

I think you have to take everything on an individual case by case basis. If you know of any specific associations with chocolate that would make one want to avoid it than please share those. Otherwise you're just demonizing foods based on unfounded dogma and potentially paving the way to an eating disorder. – Violet Jul 21 at 20:38
Violet, i'm not demonizing anything. You totally misurdestood my point: I do eat chocolate Lindt 85%, aproximately one bar per 1-2weeks; honey in my post workout sweet potatoes, red wine when i feel like too; a nice black coffee every other day. So, am I do one Linds bar as a magnesium source, everyday? hack NO! Those foods were always expensive, hard to find and should be consumed diligently. I remember my mom saying that chocolate back in her childwood(40 years ago) was a rare threat, one a special ocasion. I find thats the way to go. – Flip Jul 22 at 8:17
What I'm saying is, that in the case of dark chocolate (I like 100% eaten with fruit, nom!), there are a lot of positive health associations with eating it. Here's some examples: marksdailyapple.com/… Now if you can point out a negative association with chocolate that is strong enough to warrant not eating it everyday, I might reconsider. – Violet Jul 25 at 23:24
oxalate content that binds to minerals, not only from the chocolate himself asweel as from foods taken with it. The same goes for phytic acid. And not to mention micotoxins found in cheaper cocoa sources... – Flip Jul 27 at 22:05

I have heard lately Epsom Salt baths are a good way to get magnesium. I am going to try it soon.
