I have been paleo now for a week and doing crossfit. I have not lost a single ounce, even gained .5 lb. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Can someone please help?
After starting a paleo diet, and continuing resistance training with minimal cardio, I lost no weight, but dropped two dress sizes and am much stronger (and shapelier!). That whole muscle density vs fat density seems to really play out for me. It took a good month before I started seeing the results though. My workouts are not crossfit in nature, but fairly intense. I did begin to feel better immediately! Good luck with your efforts! I'm sure that with a bit of time you will see results!
"Eating paleo" and "doing cross fit" are really not very specific. Technically eating 50 bananas and a pound of almonds every day is paleo -- but you're not gonna lose weight that way.
I did happen to lose weight in the first week, but was not cross fitting yet -- depending on how hard you're working you might be gaining a bit of muscle which weighs more than fat, so you may lose body fat and still see the scale creep up. FWIW, I started out on a low carbish, south beach dietish version of paleo I made up myself -- mostly chicken, fish, water, veggies of all kinds, small amounts of yogurt, cheese, nuts, and low-glycemic fruits. Mostly olive oil for fat. (Now I eat much more flesh and saturated fats and that is even better!)

Good luck and don't get discouraged. I know it's hard not to be impatient with weight loss, but really you want sloooowww steady fat loss -- that's what lasts. I started out at 202 lbs September 2011 and with lots of tweaks and plateaus, I was 168 when I weighed myself about 12 days ago. More than the scale, I feel better, look better (yes appearance matters to me), and am happier. You will be too, just give yourself time!
I wouldn't worry too much about it this early in the game. Your body is going to fluctuate a little, and like Sheila made mention of, it's possible your fat-muscle ratio has changed.
If it really is fat gain, you'd need to look at what exactly you were eating. A few things that can sabotage people are eating too much fruit and eating too many nuts and seeds. If you eat dairy, that's another thing you should watch.
Just because you eat paleo and do crossfit does not guarantee weight loss.
So obviously give yourself a bit more time. I would be more concerned with how your clothes fit, and taking photos of yourself, then your weight.
That being said, if you are that concerned you have to know how much your are eating. If you are eating clean paleo than for most this, compared to what they used to eat, naturally reduces their caloric intake, and thus fat is lossed.
If by a few weeks, you still have not gotten any results, then I would seriously considering monitoring your intake, and if that doesn't work, get some blood work done, make sure you dont have any other issues.
Don't forget about stress, sleep, and recovery.
I have a feeling that these type of questions will become more frequent as paleo gets more exposure in the media and through word of mouth. Most of us 'veterans' of paleo know that paleo is a lifestyle and is about quality of food. I lost 40lbs so far, but I started paleo for IBS and GERD issues. Weight loss was an added bonus.
I noticed that I felt better right away. My face is less puffy, my clothes fit better. Now after eating Paleo for a month, I've dropped 7 pounds. Stick with it, you'll see results when your body is ready.
Four weeks into the paleo diet I'd shed 15 pounds (7% of my total mass) and an inch off my waist, face was also less puffy. I do a lot of weights and cardio training for skiing races and triathlons. For me I didn't change my workouts at all, i changed my intake to paleo, with some flexibility for dairy. Six weeks into it the weight continues redistributing and now most of my pants are too big, including the unattainable pants I hadn't worn in a few years.
One week is not long enough for your body to adjust to your new lifestyle. I started feeling better the 2nd week. Body shape started changing during 1st month. Did not loose weight until month 2. Give it time. I weigh myself daily, but shouldn't. Do yourself a favor and get off the scale.
