My diet has evolved to Paleo, thank goodness! I get migraines within 30-40 mins after my kettlebell workout but not after every workout. Has anyone had that problem and has paleo helped?

Is it honestly a migraine (diagnosed) or a headache? – MathGirl72 Jul 24 at 1:48
Migraine with visual disturbance, auras, unilateral head pain and nausea. – omatic Aug 7 at 14:20

I used to get migraines from ANY kind of stress. Sleep deprivation seems to be the worse stressor. But you add on to that other things, that doesn't help.

NO ONE ever gets stronger by exercising. Sorry to shock you. People get stronger by recovering from exercising. The exercise per se is a stressor. If it weren't, you wouldn't getting stronger from it. So it is no surprise to me that you are getting migraines from hard exercise. I did that many times.

I get migraines much less often the more I improve my lifestyle/diet. Right now I am doing fermented foods: kefir (real easy), fermented veggies (a little more work), kombucha (not so bad if you do the continuous brewing method). Getting good sleep is absolutely imperative.

Darn STRESS !! I love sleep! I have an app called Sleep Cycle which keeps track of your sleep. My average sleep time for the last 202 days is 8h 18m. Kimchi is good, makes me smile so less stress? ! – omatic Aug 7 at 14:36

I often get a nasty headache (not migraine) after some workouts. If it's really strenuous or something I'm doing where I tend to hold my breath a lot like planks. I've never noticed that paleo helps with that, I think it's more about conditioning and learning to breathe correctly for what you're doing. I'm a terrible runner for this reason, I've not learned to breathe properly while running and end up with a headache shortly after.

I agree that it can be a problem. I feel that I do rather well with it but will pay more attention. – omatic Jul 25 at 0:13

I get awful migraines from being dehydrated, and doing anything where I am holding my breathe (yoga used to be such a migraine trigger until I got the breathing down!). Being hydrated BEFORE exercising is easier than DURING for me, so I always carry a water bottle around for the whole day before a workout. I also don't let myself get embarrassed about having big, noisy, loud breathes right into my stomach. If I don't, the headaches will follow!
