I've use the capsules, krill oil, and bottles of oil before in the past. All the bottles have been too expensive, and I didn't like the capsule because I would have to take 15-20 pills a day to get all the EPA and DHA I need. Can anyone recommend a good product that won't break the bank?

I'm curious as to why you need so much? – Dave S. Jul 25 at 14:16

Try BlueVera softgels – they contain a good amount of EPA (600 mg) and DHA (200 mg). You shouldn’t too much omega-3s – just enough and this is a good daily dose to take. I don’t get any fishy after burps from taking these, but you can freeze fish oil capsules to avoid fishy after burps.

+1 for the tip about freezing the fish oil caps. This is good to know! – Paleo Papa Apr 30 at 15:10

I use: http://www.vitacost.com/vitacost-norwegian-ultra-dha

500mg DHA, 100mg EPA, 400mg ALA per capsule, and 10IU vit E to stop it going rancid. Cost is only ~7 cent a day.

DHA is most easily converted to EPA and vice versa, so these are really good. No fishy taste at all either.

sardines, salmon or any other fatty fish?

+1 My immediate thought was canned salmon. – Karen Jul 25 at 11:06
Protein, EPA, DHA and other good things all in one. – Karen Jul 25 at 11:07
It is much better to go for the real food source of fish oil rather than taking pills, if you can do it. For omega-3s, I'd go with Carlson's cod liver oil. A teaspoon once or twice a week is plenty for me. – Dave S. Jul 25 at 14:15
