Suddenly I need to clip my nails once a week/every 10 days rather than once every 3, and my fringe needs trimming a lot more frequently.
A symptom of better nutrition?

My hair and nails grew somewhat quickly before going paleo. Now...its ridiculous! I've been full paleo about 2 months and my hair has grown about 4 inches! Nails need clipping much more often and have become stronger. |

Little observation: I cut half my fingernail off while cooking 3 weeks ago, literally half way to the nailbed. Now less than a millimeter from norm. That seems fast. |

Yup, and I think it's a good sign of health. |

I don't know about hair, because I always have had a lot of it, but it does seem like I have to cut my nails more often. Wish I could test this without going back to eating that way...! |

My hair and nails have been like that ever since my Atkins days. I have to clip my fingernails constantly because I like them very short for typing and bike riding/maintenance. If I had the patience to take care of them, I think I could have dragon lady mails in a month! XD |

I can't tell about hair because I already had a lot of hair, but my nails are all really tough. They grow extremely thick and are white instead of yellowish. Before eating paleo I often had my nails break or they'd be on the verge of bendng in half. Now in muay thai when I punch and hit my long thumbnails the wrong way, my nails can't bend and break like before... instead it's much worse, and my entire thumbnail pulls away from my skin. So. It kinda rocks but kinda doesn't. lol |

Like I've said in previous posts, after I went Paleo, my large toenail that had been dead for over a decade suddenly grew back full. |

Not only do they grow faster, but after my intestinal transplant, the heavy steroids the doctors used made most of my hair fall out. Once I got home (and was removed from the steroids) and started back on a paleo diet, I had a full head of hair again within two months. All of the other transplant patients I met still have the thin hair from the medications - they all continue to eat a SAD. They probably don't get enough protein in their diet for their bodies to heal and grow back the hair (hair and nails are made of protein). My right big toe had become infected from being bed-ridden for 14 months and the doctors had to remove the entire nail - after I started the paleo again, the entire nail grew completely back fully within 4 months. A paleo diet can definitely grow hair and nails fast. If you have male pattern baldness - no diet will fix that - it's genetic. |

My nails grow faster, including my toenails, and my fingernails are much stronger than they used to be. I agree it's better nutrition! |

Yes! This absolutely happened to me. My nails got the ridges in them meaning they are thicker and harder to cut. My toenails must be cut much more and filed since they are so much more thick now. In addition, my hair is more lustrous, less frizzy, and thick. I think it is a result of more iron intake and consuming better oils/fats. |
