Curious as to what others think of the supplement Vitargo? I know it is not primal/paleo, but if used exclusively only before and after heavy lifting sessions to refill muscle glycogen is it ok?

I used to buy that stuff. I think that the conclusion of most paleosphere "experts" (I've definitely heard Robb Wolf say this, at least - not specifically in reference to Vitargo, but with regard to post-lifting nutrition) is that you'd be just as good chowing down on some sweet potatoes in the post-workout window. White potatoes or rice might be ok, too, depending on your individual experiences/tolerances. Also, Vitargo does contain gluten - the site says less than 20 ppm, but if you're gluten intolerant, it's probably not something you want to be chugging after every lifting session week after week. |
