How many of you just eat meat once per day and the rest of your dietary intake is veg?

By volume, yes, by calories, no.

It also changes seasonally for me. Right now I'm getting lots of veggies and fruit, and less meat (mostly in the form of fish). In the winter I eat tubers, meat (especially beef, lamb, and goat), and winter greens.

As for once per day, I personally feel better when I have protein, starch, and fat at each meal. So my meals normally have a protein, a starchy veggie, and a non-starchy veggie.

+1 for eating with the seasons. – Team Oberg Jul 28 at 22:48
Same here re: volume/calories. I bulk up my plate with vegetables, but the true substance of my meals is meat. – Paleoette Jul 28 at 23:36

I eat meat once a day, for two reasons. First, over the past year I've found that it's how I feel best personally. Second, my budget is pretty tight right now, and I don't feel comfortable ethically buying CAFO meat. So yes, I probably eat more plants than meat. I eat lots of fat, moderate carb, adequate protein. Most days I probably end up near the PHD ratios, but I don't count for personal reasons.

Right now I'm eating eggs at breakfast some days, other [days] I have fruit topped with coconut milk for breakfast instead, or occasionally (couple times a month?) a nut-/coconut-based baked good. Something like veggie soup cooked in bone broth at lunch, and something with about 4 oz (I think) meat with sweet potato and veg for dinner.

The key for me is bone broth. I eat a lot of that. I do eat organ meats probably once or twice a week. The rest is generally higher fat muscle meat.

(Disclaimer: I had been eating WAPF-style legumes on occasion, so I don't consider myself totally paleo, but haven't over the past few weeks because of being glutened and wanting to heal fully.)

I'm still pretty new to this, but I get hungry without protein. I've tried doing salads with lots of veggies, a whole avocado and homemade dressing, but it only lasts me a couple of hours. If I add last nights leftover meat, I'm good til dinner. Have you been Paleo long? Were you always able to stay full on mostly veggies?

I have been paleo since 2010. I started out meat-heavy, coming from a vegan diet. I know am able to stay full on a lot of veg with a few tablespoons of fat and 4oz of animal protein per day, sometimes half at lunch/half at dinner. I don't eat breakfast. Starchy veg has been important in my recovery from alcoholism. Previously, most of my calories came from beer. – Lyndsay Jul 28 at 23:03
now sorry, typo. – Lyndsay Jul 28 at 23:03

Oh, beer. In my pre-paleo days I made a dinner out of a beer on more than one occasion. ...That's interesting that you started out meat heavy and then shifted down as you, presumably, filled nutrient stores. I see that happening with myself, too. – Sara S. Jul 28 at 23:06

My diet is pretty much half protein, half veggies.

I normally eat animal flesh once a day at dinner, usually 4-6 oz. For lunch I will have eggs or sardines, oysters (twice a week) in a salad. With that and the protein I get from veggies, nuts, and occasional dairy I get an adequate supply. Veggies -low carb veggies- make up the bulk of my diet.

I will not touch CAFO meat so budget is part of the reason. I also actively choose to eat less animal flesh for personal reasons. I am lucky to not need that much protein so 50-80g per day is just fine for me. I won't deny myself if I feel I need more or just want to eat a huge hunk o'meat but on a regular basis it's not that much (relative to the paleo diet in general)
