I occasionally use apricot kernal oil topically. Am I absorbing the omega-6's, and if so, how bad is it? I love coconut oil, but it is pricey, so I use the cheaper oil for non-cooking purposes. Thanks in advance.

I'll look for some, thanks! – Livia Aug 1 at 22:07
Any idea what the omega 6 ratio is for shea, and if that is absorbable? I don't have skin issues, I just like the moisture from time to time. – Livia Aug 1 at 22:18

I love using macadamia nut oil but that's not really cheap. Might be worth a comparison. But as BBF said below I wouldn't worry about it absorbing into the skin. It is not going to harm you the way it does with ingestion. – Shari Bambino Aug 2 at 4:18

Certain fatty acids are absorbed through the skin, yes.

fatty acids absorbed in this way would be unlikely to cause inflammation like consuming an o6 heavy food or oil might.

I wouldn't worry about it.

I wouldn't worry about this. I've read elsewhere that the omega-6 will not absorb to be burned as calories, which is why you want to avoid eating it in the first place. I really would not worry about it on your skin.
