Any gals or guys notice how their thinning eyelashes are now filling back in? My skin has gotten softer but what I didn't expect is those sun spots or age spots are fading big time. Any others noticing this phenomenon on this diet? I also noticed that a large Seborrheic Keratosis on my back has almost disappeared.

No, I didn't... – Ivan Nov 13 2010 at 22:43
How long have you been doing paleo for this to happen? I'd be up for softer skin and reducing sun spots, especially some that are on my arms. – anonymo-paleo Mar 2 2011 at 21:39
Melasma faded on my face, but my age spots are getting worse, not better. What exactly have you been eating? – Glither Mar 6 2011 at 4:57

YES! I did notice my eyelashes were thicker, and stronger. I have this thing where I sometimes pull them out (weird I know) and they grow back stupidly fast now, down side is I have to shave my legs etc more often and pluck my eyebrows more often as the haor grows so fast! Looking forward to having a great big mane of hair on my head in a year or two though :D

Yes softer skin here (maybe coconut oil consumption?), and I have some pretty noticeable liver spots on my face that I noticed lightening! Yay

My skin did this crazy thing the first month of paleo. It got smoother, but these small white stripes showed up EVERYwhere. They weren't uncomfortable, I wasn't too concerned, and they did go away after a week. After that, my skin was a more olive tone (previously more red) and looked/felt a lot better. But that one week... I dunno. It was bizarre.

I have a lovely brown healthy tan even though I have had little sun contact, cold dark winter in the uk. The best thing is the dark circles under my eyes are fading fast. Practically gone now.

Same!! To all the above :D – Carly Mar 4 2011 at 23:17
I don't have a tan, but I've retained my freckles. Usually by this time I've returned to my ghostly state. – mari Mar 6 2011 at 0:18

I've always had pretty good skin. But I would get acne and my lips would be chapped. Paleo fixed the acne. Vitamin K2 fixed the chapped lips.

Never took K2 before. How much do you take? – DarkStar Nov 13 2010 at 5:20

I had some small spots on my face that were kinda like a mole or thick spot. The skin was the same color as the regular skin, but there was a kind of lump there. I noticed most of those have gone away since paleo. I think there was about 3. Now there is only one left and it is smaller than before.

I've noticed much better skin.

People have been telling me my skin looks amazing. I agree with Primal Style that it is all the coconut oil I have been consuming but who knows.

how much are you consuming? – Bill1102inf Nov 17 2010 at 18:41

Eva, those sound lie sebhorreic keratoses, which I had for 10-15 years on my face, chest, back and legs—before doing Paleo. Mine have disappeared for the most part, especially on my face. Gone. I have an excellent dermatoloigist who told me recently there is a link between SK and pre-diabetes.

Yeah, I've heard that, that there are links between certain skin problems and diabetes. There's one in particular that I think involves excess melanin in patches that shows up with type 1. – Dana Mar 7 2011 at 1:55

My nails are long and stronger than steel, they'd normally split or break but now I have trouble cutting them. When painted they look fake.

I attribute this to lots of protein, fermented CLO and brazil nuts for selenium.

It's done wonders for my skin. First of all, no more eczema or rashes, and dry skin issues are much improved. My acne cleared up and pigmentation scars are finally fading, my skin tone has less pink to it, and is darker all over as well - which is weird. I look like I have an even light tan and it's the middle of winter, my skin hasn't seen sun since August. I don't really notice it until I see pictures of me next to my white friends, I've never been fish belly white but I was naturally really pale... not any more!

My nails have always been good but now are even better, and I finally seem to be seeing some thickening to my hair (I've had thick roots, but having hairs shed excessively at short lengths, since 2007).

I have definately noticed my face and neck as softer and less acne. I will now have to go check my hair and eyelashes...As for nails, they have always been weak but heres hoping it gets better...(i am only in my second month of paleo. )

I looked up this thread after I noticed that my skin seemed softer and smoother, especially on my arms. However, I haven't noticed any improvement in seborrheic dermatitis. Still need the steroid cream for my face.

I've got a problem with cracking nails and my skin is way too dry:(. And I've got dandruff even on my eyebrows! What should I do? Maybe I need some coconut oil to improve this?

What about my skin colour, I've become more yellow I think:/. I've always been pale and now I'm kinda yellow pale.

What I've noticed is that my hair are growing faster and stronger:).

yep my skin has definitely improved and maybe my hair would be naturally a lot nicer if i stopped dying it!

I've been on Paleo for two months now. My skin has gotten clearer. I had patches of dark spots on my cheeks and forehead that have completely disappeared, and my skin seems softer. My hair seems like it's growing a little faster. I felt like my face was a little puffy before, but that is gone now too. Yay!

Agreed. I had what I thought was rosacea on the bottom portion of my cheeks, though I recently found out it's just hormonal acne. It makes my skin red and splotchy though, and since starting paleo the redness has reduced dramatically. Haven't had any luck with keratosis pilaris though. Damn you, KP. Damn you to hell.

YES! Eyebrows and hair (on top of my head). I had thin hair (on a woman, that's much worse than on a dude, yo).

I never over-plucked my brows because I've always had such an issue with them being fine. After 2 years of no grains/ no legumes/ no dairy/ no nightshades, I'll go days without wearing brow makeup. This is something I'd never have done before! I'm not wearing any today and I didn't going out at an alumni function Saturday night -- which is saying a lot.
