Just curious if there are any super healthy foods you hate and if you try to eat them anyway, or overcome your dislike?
I personally can't stand avocados. I don't know why, and I wish I didn't. I have been forcing myself to eat guacamole and that isn't solo bad, but the idea of eating an avocado raw is unappealing.
LIVER. Like, OMFG NO. I've tried to develop a taste for it, and I'm not a fussy eater. I don't have any particular objection to offal, either; I've eaten heart, brain, and tripe plenty of times before. But there are only two ways I can stand liver: rumaki (chicken livers and water chestnuts wrapped in bacon) and pate (made with lots of butter). I do love foie gras, but that's not really like liver at all. Beef liver? Forget it. NO. CAPSLOCK.
And much as I love fish and just about all seafood (including fish roe and sea urchins), certain species of fish are not fit for eating. Tilapia? I'm looking at you. The texture is just wrong, and it doesn't taste very good at all. Catfish? You too. And while cod's not as bad, it's so bland--the only way I've ever liked it was beer-battered and deep-fried, and that's just not happening anymore.
I also cannot stand bananas. The smell, the texture, the taste--LOL, I would so totally fail over at 30BAD.
Sauerkraut. I bought a jar of natural, uncooked, unpasteurized sauerkraut and it's still sitting in the fridge. I really want to try it, but I'm afraid it's going to be like the soggy, nasty stuff I tried years ago. I even want to make my own, but I'm afraid to!
Seafood...I pretty much hate the sea and everything in it when it comes to putting any of it in my mouth.
I wish I liked salmon especially, I mean when I see the bright red/pink fillet, it looks beautiful, but… keep it away from me!
I also take nothing in the way of Omega 3 oils because of this hate for Sea food, so I need to track down the best Omega 3 capsules to make up for the deficiency.
You know Sebastian from the little Mermaid…yeah...gave me nightmares shudder
I was a vegetarian for 2 years and the first (non-fish) meat that I ate after all that time was some pastured local sheep kidneys. They tasted like piss. Needless to say it was a while before I tried eating meat again. Thankfully I later had a steak (from the same farm) and realized red meat could taste good.
A recent attempt to try kidneys again was proof that I should stick to liver for my offal needs.
OMG. Avocados?! They're sooooooooooooooooooo ... well, if you don't like 'em, you don't like 'em, but that's a little sad. : ( Mixed in a smoothie, tho, and you pretty much disguise the taste (add some choco protein powder, maybe?), and you end up with a yummy, velvety texture.
Kale, for me. Ick. Although I can stomach (well seasoned!) kale chips.
