Ever since I started getting them, my cycles had been long, irregular, drawn out, and disastrous, lasting anywhere from 4-8 days, a doctor even diagnosed with me PMDD a few years ago.

Since going paleo 6 months ago, I was on birth control and skipping cycles, up until 2 months ago when I decided to get off of it completely.

Though only a couple months, this time 'round I am right on schedule, and the cycle lasts about 2.5 days, which is awesome, and unusual for me.

Is this something that paleo has affected? Does anyone have similar experiences?

That is perfect!
Three days is how is should be. Its optimal and normal.... I didn't learn that myself until I got help for my own pmdd.
You may find that your cycles are longer too - up to 35 days. Also perfectly normal.

CONGRATULATIONS.

Why do you suspect that the OP's cycle might be longer and are you suggesting that is "optimal and normal" as well? Could you let us know what your basis is for your comments? I'm not trying to be hostile, just genuinely curious. My cycles are around 35 days (with ovulation around day 20) and my actual flow typically lasts only 2-3 days. – Kay Aug 15 at 2:37

My very first thought was "make sure you're not pregnant" as you can have spotting around the time of your period while pregnant.

Making sure I was getting enough D and Mag corrected my cycle length though my period is still around 6 days. sigh I would love 2.5 days.

Oral contraceptives can affect your cycles for a substantial amount of time after they are removed. In my case, the doctors advised me that my fertility might not come back for a good year after stopping. The formula they stated was expect one month of infertility for every year you've been on BC. Long story short, it could be a while before you find what normal is again.

I found my cycles got shorter--from a 28-day cycle to a 25-day cycle. Of course, I'm also 38, and cycles change as you get older. My periods have never been painful, and have only lasted for about three days for years, but the bloating isn't as bad.
