All good answers - another of my favorites - olives. I buy the good ones at the olive bar and 3-4 seem to satisfy me when I have a salty craving

Another salty snack - kale chips - yum!

Pack your own. Stuff at the olive bar is often packed in soybean oil. Beware – John Sorrentino Aug 14 at 18:10
I love olives too! Especially garlic-stuffed olives. I'll have to check on the soybean oil, though. I hadn't considered that. – Joseph S. Aug 14 at 18:54
Had not consider that either - thanks John! – Judi Aug 14 at 19:13

Cut up veggies, jerky, apples, avocado, berries, leftovers.

If it's real food, it's snackable food.

I try not to go there...it is way to easy for me to overindulge! =) – MathGirl72 Aug 14 at 18:06

Avocado w/ sea salt, cumin and onion powder and/or raw diced onion. Avocados all the way, seriously.

Coconut flakes mixed with organic chocolate powder. Eat like this or dunk a banana in it. Yum.

Can't believe nobody has suggested pork cracklings or beef jerkey yet! This is a paleo forum! :p.

Also bone broth fills me up for hours and I have learned to find it delicious. Plus its absolutely packed with nutrients.

I'm yet to find a source of beef jerky that I feel completely comfortable with in terms of ingredients and taste. And making my own tends to take too long. What brand of beef jerky would you recommend? – Joseph S. Aug 14 at 18:56
Tanka bars are awesome, a bit expensive unfortunately. They're actually made from buffalo, not beef. – Mscott Aug 14 at 21:11
Probably best to make it yourself in a dehydrator or oven, I wouldn't buy anything in a package and any additive-free versions are likely to be really expensive – Carl D Aug 15 at 13:31

Coconuts. I cut one up at the start of each week and pack bits of it up for a nice snack.

Dried fruit is good if you use your own dehydrator and don't pack too many of them (to keep you from overindulging).

Small carrots are good. I saw a friend of mine eating an unpeeled carrot and was amazed that I had been wasting time peeling them. I actually like the taste of the peel if it's a small carrot. Celery is good if you like the flavor--I don't personally, but I do take it occasionally.

Cabbage works as a snack for me. I cut up a bag-full and just eat it dry throughout the day. I find it stays crisp better than spinach or other leafy greens.

And then of course there's dark chocolate.

only if you do soy, which some of us don't – Judi Aug 14 at 18:02

Soy is a bad idea. Phytates that don't break down w/o fermentation and estrogen like substances. – John Sorrentino Aug 14 at 18:09

Edemame is a legume. They are soy beans. – Miriam Aug 14 at 18:10
MDA has a good writeup on soy: marksdailyapple.com/soy-scrutiny/#axzz23Y41llqL. Edamame is a fine snack, I'd say, but I wouldn't overindulge. I still enjoy eating it from time to time. – Joseph S. Aug 14 at 18:58
