Since you are already doing it, why don't you tell us. Are you gaining muscle or not? If someone posts that you can or can not do it, will it really change the results you are already getting? – james barlow Aug 16 at 12:54
The only thing i have noticed is that im getting stronger, and my endurance has increased – mike Aug 16 at 15:15

Yes, if you eat more calories than your body requires for maintenance you will gain weight. Whether those surplus calories come in three meals daily, two, or one meal daily does not matter. Calories are what matter.

I IF with a 16/8 window; been at it for over two years. I love it for the convenience of simply skipping breakfast. I initially leaned out because I wasn't eating enough calories. Then I started tracking what I eat and have been able gain in weight by simply maintaining a surplus of calories.

There was this recent study that gave two randomized groups of men an identical amount of calories, one LCHF and the other HCLF. The High fat group was shown to burn 300 more calories daily and thus lost more weight. My point is i really dont think he'll ACTUALLY gain weight by eating a relatively small surplus if he eats a high fat diet. Sorry for not linking to the study - i can't seem to find it. It was featured on marksdailyapple some time ago. Will try to dig it up. – Alexander Aug 16 at 16:21

Alexander; assuming this is the study you're referring to, here's Anthony Colpo's take it (and by the way the low carb diet did not produce any greater weight loss): anthonycolpo.com/?p=3680 – Mscott Aug 21 at 3:47
Thx MS. I wanted to link to that. By the way there are other people on both sides of the debate that come out with the exact same analysis. – ben61820 Aug 21 at 14:56

As long as you're eating enough calories, you will gain.

I don't seem to have any problems with muscle gain with a 5 hour daily eating window. Just make sure you are consuming nutritionally dense foods when you do eat.

do you track intake? or roughly how much do you eat when "gaining"; have you noticed the gains being much cleaner on IF than it would be otherwise (less fat increase) – Paleo_BLaZeDRas Aug 16 at 11:27
I stil look lean even though im getting stronger – mike Aug 16 at 15:17
