been reading alot on this forum about bone broth and its beneficial properties.
i have 5 pounds of bones as of now(beef)
how long do i have to wash these bones before i can start simmering them?

I freeze mine until ready to use and throw them in a crockpot with filtered, flouride free water and some vinegar for a day or two. |

I've never thought about washed bones. I roast them @350 for like an hour. |

You can give the bones a rinse if they seem grungy, if you like, but excessive/prolonged washing is not necessary. They will be cooked far beyond the ability of any critters to survive. |

I do wash marrow bones. The reason is, there are these bone chips that you don't want to go into your broth. These are very small yet sharp and even washing them doesn't necessarily get all the chipped bones out. I assume the chips are caused by the mega saw blade cutting through these marrow bones. I don't have any problems with any bones other than marrows. |
