I really need to incorporate more bone broth into my diet, and I'd like to do so by sipping some in the office. Does anyone do this? Do you microwave the broth? If not, how do you heat it up? Do you just bring it warm with you to work in the morning?

I have a mini crock pot that I used to bring and heat up some bone broth but the smell was pretty strong - didn't want to be "that girl" on my floor with over 100+ people around!

Ideas are greatly appreciated. :)

It has got to smell better than Cup o' Noodle, or Top Ramen, which seemed to be what my coworkers lived on when I had an office job.

I've looked into it over and over again, and even with my paranoid mind, I have not found any non-woo woo reasons to not microwave the stuff, as long as you don't boil the shit out of it in there and start messing with proteins. So throw it in a coffee cup, and nuke it lightly, no problemo.

Another thing you could do is reduce it at home until you have a more concentrated version, and then just add hot tea water (which I recall most office coffee pots have a spigot for on the side), to dilute it back to normal strength and heat it simultaneously.

I drink bone broth at the office, but I don't nuke it. I have one of those little "coffee warmer" things, and keep my mug of broth on there, where it stays nice and toasty.

Oh, and BTW -- I've had a couple of folks mention the "yummy" smell -- especially during the winter when it's doggone chilly out. I've converted a couple of the folks on my floor to home-made bone broth (if not a replacement for their coffee, then a high-quality adjunct, right?)

I didn't add gelatin since my broth was super-coagulated already (I had a nice knuckle bone). I keep mine in the fridge since my room temp is currently in the 80s for most of the day. I'm not sure what temp gelatin melts at, but if I leave a piece out for a few minutes, it basically turns to jelly. So in my experience it does require refrigeration.

Lately I've just been eating a cubes of it, letting it melt in my mouth.

When I make bone broth, I pour some into ice cube trays and freeze. The frozen broth cubes are very portable and easily melted into a mug of hot water from the office water cooler. Works for me!

Bone broth bouillon! http://nourishedkitchen.com/homemade-bouillon-portable-soup/ They can be stored at room temperature, and then when you are ready to have some broth, you can nuke your water alone or use the hot water out of the cooler, if your office has one, and just drop a cube or two in and stir to bone broth bliss.

The thermos idea is great, but if you want to be able to reheat it at work, consider the mini warming crock pot. It holds 20 ounces and warms but does not cook. They were designed for people working in cubicles and have virtually no odor while warming. It's especially nice because it's steaming and ready to go when you have lunch or a break. Amazon carries them as does Target.

I heat it up at home and take it in a thermo flask. This avoids funny looks and annoying diet questions, because people just assume that it's tea.

Keep it in a thermos? And there's no reason why you can't drink it cold or at room temp. Put it in a refrigerator and eat it as gelatin.

I would agree that the Contiki vacuum sealed to go cups are awesome! Here in Canada you can get the 2 pack for 20 dollars at Costco.

I bring it in a travel mug and reheat in a ceramic mug in the microwave as I want it. My coworkers think it smells great! I used to use a hot pot, but those probably aren't much better given that they seem plastic.
