Sometimes after eating I notice a pain in my throat. Sometimes I think it might be a reaction to coconut oil. Has anyone else had this reaction?
(I plan on doing a trial with and without coconut oil and seeing if I notice the difference.)
I had throat pain the very first time (few weeks ago) I tried to take a tablespoon of virgin coconut oil by itself (I only found Coconoil brand in Italy). Then I read some stories around and tried to pour a tbsp of oil into my kefir and it worked just fine. No more throat pain.
I read that if you use the oil with something else (whether other liquid - i.e. tea, coffee, etc. - or to cook vegetables, fish and so on) it is ok. Otherwise, in some cases (not always), and according to the brand you use you might experience throat pain. This might work unless you're allergic to coconut.
I get that same reaction from EVOO and coconut oil (a slight and fleeting burning in the back of my throat).. but have no stomach irritation after eating either (and I eat a lot of both).
I've heard people say this is an "allergy" but I don't believe it.
