So I was wondering how much coconut oil(or oil in general) do you use in a week?

Since this is my first week paleo I just realized that I may be using a jar of coconut oil a week. Does that seem like a lot?

And how many different fats do you use? I use duck fat, olive oil, butter and coconut oil and I go through a 14 oz jar of coconut oil every 2 weeks. – Aisling Sep 5 at 17:58

Its the trader joes one. I eat 2 big meals a day. I'm keeping carbs realitvley low just getting fiber. I feel like I may be using too much now, although I track calories and I'm averaging 2400 with all that. I really only use coconut oil and olive oil right now. But that's cause I can't find lard – Sam Sep 6 at 5:20

I use olive oil, coconut oil, bacon grease and butter mostly. Your usage and mileage may and should vary.

I go through

*a 16 oz jar of coconut oil in about a month
*a 16 oz bottle of olive oil each week (mayos, dressing, etc) *2 lbs of farm fresh/pastured butter each month

My family of 4 eats paleo

A 14oz jar can lasts me just about a month, but I am also using bacon grease and butter.

I use mostly coconut oil, about a tablespoon a day--a little to coat the pan when I cook my omelette and a spoonful straight. I eat minimal butter and no olive oil (most is not really olive oil and it would probably oxidize before I would be able to use it all up). I get the rest of my fats from meat, fish, nuts, yogurt, and avocados.

Cooking for one (big eater), a 14 oz jar of coconut oil lasts about 3 weeks. I don't use any butter but I use about 6 oz of olive oil a week.

1-2oz butter a day. 4-8 oz beef tallow a day . 1 tbs of mct oil a day. When I consume sweet potatoes/ yams, I drop 1/4 cup of coconut oil in.

Nope, I have the bulletproof coffee, with 1-2 oz of butter and 1 tbs of mct oil. From there I fast until 3-8pm. I eat one large meal a day. I cook most meals with beef tallow. Sometimes, I use butter on vegetables and rice. – That One Guy Sep 11 at 21:38

About 8oz bacon fat (I keep it in a mason jar), 2 sticks butter, and probably a cup, cup and a half or so of olive oil per month. That's cooking for 2, one of whom is a big eater.

I haven't tried coconut oil yet, and I'd like to get some leaf lard online.
