So i've seen this list on the internet of the top ten foods to store long term. It was all crappy food like wheat, rice and beans. Pretty much anti Paleo. After a long time of thinking I think I came up with a paleo version of the list. it's as follows:
10: Maple syrup 9: Sauerkraut 8: Lard 7: Salami 6: Salt cured meats (hams, fish) 5: Salt 4: Coconut oil 3: Honney 2: Biltong 1: Pemmican. Bonus! tequilla!
So what should be added/removed? Thoughts? http://survivalpunk.com/top-ten-paleo-food-for-storage/
I've been thinking about how having access to some freeze dried or dehydrated foods (not just fruit) would be a much better option than the typical snacking many people would do if given 15 seconds to grab something to snack on. Chips or freeze dried real foods? Cookies or freeze dried real foods? I know what I would pick. I dehydrate foods on my own but am also researching companies with freeze dried or dehydrated foods for food storage with the view that we should store what we use and use what we store (so far liking Shelf Reliance). If I end up jobless I'd like to know I can still feed my family for a while. Trying to stay Paleo then would mean mostly veges, some fruits, and I'd buy fresh meats (not into fake or TVP meats... and soy is not a healthy option). Dehydrated meat/jerky is an option. Have other stored items and a raised garden... as close to nature is best.
