[Yes, yes, I know. "Peanuts aren't paleo." "Just eat whole, unprocessed foods." "Try almond/cashew/macadamia nut butter." "I'm going to answer not the question you asked, but the one I want to answer." I just want some help grading this non-paleo option because, darn it, I want my peanut butter back, if only occasionally!]
Yesterday I was at the grocery store and considered buying a natural PB to try Payam's method (here http://paleohacks.com/questions/50745/peanuts-peanut-butter-peanut-oil#axzz26G55nzCX) as a way to make it a little "less bad." And I stumbled upon this -- http://www.bellplantation.com/products/4-pack-pb2-powdered-peanut-butter.html.
WTF. Sounds weird. But....could it be okay?
Given that the oil is removed, how much does this deal with the concerns that go along with peanuts? It would address the omega 3/6, right? What about the peanut agglutinin or aflatoxins? The jar says it "contains peanut proteins," and this is where the PNA is, isn't it? Any thoughts?
