is there any fellow paleo people from the uk using gelatin?
all i found is this: http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=258448743
but no mention of grass fed or not, but is grass fed REALLY necessary for gelatin?
I use this, when I haven't made my own gelatine rich stock from bones - either chicken, beef or pork.
It is very good, but needs to be mixed with something (the smell is more like glue that real stock!) and I believe that it is from grass fed cattle.
I don't know how much the 'grass-fed' thing matters, but just in terms of animal welfare I try to avoid buying animal products that aren't labelled'free-range' etc. And I can just about guarentee that Tesco won't be selling gelatin made from happy pigs :(
What are you using it for? I can probably count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I've used gelatin for anything!
Great Lakes sells in bulk from their storefront, or you can order their products separately from Peaceful-Planet.com. They have 3 gelatin products that they ship to the UK at low shipping rates. The beef gelatins are both from grass-fed beef. The beef gelatin will gel at lower temperatures, but the collagen hydrolase does not thicken. The porcine gelatin is a pork gelatin product.
