Reviews are starting to come in on Amazon through their Vine program (as of 11/30/2010): all are 4 stars thus far.
Has anyone gotten their hands on a copy?
Also, one reviewer mentioned that Taubes recommends peanut oil. How can this be?

Why should it not be? He's never been "the" proponent of a certain (paleo) diet and I trust he's got his reasons to recommend that oil. Just as Dr. Cordain has had his reasons to avoid saturated fat. As for the book: A friend of mine is reading it and so far likes it a lot, mostly because it's so much more accessible than GCBC. The quality of the science work should be the same, I guess. |

I have not read it, but I'm wondering if it really is just repackaged data from GCBC or if it's genuinely new material. Are there any thoughts out there on that aspect? |

I have pre-ordered it so that I can have it as soon as possible. Even if it is the exact same scientific material (I really doubt that he could resist adding new information or citations) Taubes is an excellent writer, and since I understand that this is a re-write to make the material more accessible AND add a directed how to eat section... this will be an excellent book.http://livinlavidalowcarb.com/blog/ims-lecture-with-slides-and-qa-why-we-get-fat-by-gary-taubes/8971 may have most or all of the material in the book, but part of the art of writing is PRESENTATION, so I believe the book will be a delight to read. |

He won't be discussing in WWGF per Taubes himself... Check out his new blog: http://www.garytaubes.com/blog/ personally I think there exist still bigger fish to fry... soy, pesticides, digestive issues, gut dysbiosis, leptin resistance, etc... Am I a demanding B*TCH? I am hoping WWGF actually expands a bit if humanly possible beyond GCBC haa aha!~~ |

If you have enjoyed (and understood) Good Calories,Bad Calories then you can pass on this one. I heard there is nothing really new in there and people find books from Robb Wolf and Mark Sisson much more practical. |
