I know there is a thread around here but my question is a little more specific. eatwild.com there I got that out of the way before someone throws that link in there lol. I was looking at northstarbison, slankers, US Wellness Meats and a few others. Does anyone have experience from either of these places, are they reliable, or maybe you know of a good place to get stuff online preferably that has a wide selection. I usually get my meat from a local farm to which I have visited so I seen the animals, on pasture, healthy, with plenty of room. But they lack variety. Me being the cynical person I am, assume that all these "grass fed" online stores will have pictures of unicorns and rainbows with little deer prancing through the green pastures along with a video of all the wildlife breaking out into song and dance. When in reality its no better than a CAFO.

I have ordered from US Wellness Meats for years. I got a shipment today, as a matter of fact. I have always been happy with my shipments, their variety is impressive, and the quality is great. Check out the bloggers who have visited and will give their candid opinions. I love it personally, that's about all I can tell you. |

I have been purchasing US Wellness Meats, and have half a freezer full. These guys are passionate about grass fed, and actually just entered a relationship with farmer on a small island in Australia that raise grass fed cattle, and the island has laws about what is allowed on the island, and the temp, and humidity is super for the cattle. I had contacted them becasue I buy their Nitrate and Sugar fee bacon, and they were out. When I spoke to them, they were appologetic, and ask if I wanted to try anyting else, and gave it to me for free. I had already order $300 worth of food, but they were very gratefull for me being a customer. They are superior in their service, and have a ton of feedback. With all of that said, I cannot speak to any others. |

I love SLankers. I have not been able to find another who does not feed his pigs any kind of grain. They are raised on pasture and eat what they can catch just like wild pigs. So grass fed pigs are unique to them. They have great customer service as well. |

I buy from www.blackwatchfarm.com. It is local for me and I have been to the farm, The animals are well cared for and grass fed. I have never has anything but positive experiences and the beef is great. |

US Wellness meats is pretty awesome. I ordered 25 lbs of ground beef from them and is pretty awesome. I buy my meat from Trader Joe's now that they opened near me but I am considering going back to US Wellness since their quality is so good. |

Home Grown Cow is another great on-line source for farm direct meats. You can find all kinds of different farmers for whatever you're looking for. You can even have the meat delivered if you don't want to or can't pick it up. It's a great resource. |

Grass fed vs. grain fed is a no brainer. Grass fed tastes better, is healthier and is better for the environment. But I don't buy local. I haven't found a butcher I like around my home. I buy grass fed beef online from La Cense Beef located in Montana. They deliver right to my door. They just came out with a new catalog that you should check out. You'll love it! |
